Airtel Launch DTH TV Service in India - Powered by Broadcom Technology

 

Bharti Airtel has selected Broadcom's highly integrated satellite set-top box (STB) system-on-chip (SoC) solutions to power its direct-to-home (DTH) TV services -- Airtel digital TV -- marking Broadcom's first commercial satellite product launch in India.

With an exploding interest in DTH TV services, India's burgeoning pay-TV market potential is expected to include 90 million subscribers by 2012, according to In-Stat market research. "Direct-to-home technology is emerging as the leading digital TV transmission platform in India," said Mike Paxton, a principal analyst at In-Stat. "Consumer demand for better picture quality and advanced video services have become catalysts that are driving demand for DTH pay-TV services throughout India."

Six Arrested in chandigarh with Explosives

Six persons were today reportedly (December 9) arrested from a bus stand in chandigarh  and explosive substance was recovered from their possession.

The accused, believed to be labourers, were arrested by  (CRPF) personnel from the local bus stand in the early morning , police said, and adding that the substance recovered is low intensity explosive used for blowing bridges.

The laborers are workers  involved in construction work at Roru in Himachal Pradesh.

Security is on an all-time high in Chandigarh, with the second Test match between England and India scheduled to be held at Mohali from December 19.

SBI to hire 4200 for associate banks

SBI said in a public announcement today that it plans to recruit 4,280 clerical staff at its various associate banks for operations across the country. 

The various associate banks for which SBI is looking to recruit the staff include State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Indore, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Travancore.   visit www.sbi.com for more details

There are more than 1,000 vacancies each with State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Patiala and State Bank of Travancore, between 240 and 440 employees would be recruited for each of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Indore and State Bank of Mysore.

SBI Chairman O P Bhatt said on November 16 that SBI was hiring 20,000 clerical staff and 5,000 people in supervisory positions in the current fiscal.
